MetLife Cycling Team

The MetLife Pro-Am Cycling Team website acts as the backbone of the team’s marketing efforts. It includes information about the team, such as roster, race calendar, events, and sponsors, as well as the ability to purchase team gear, sign up for the eNewsletter and follow weekly updates.

It was important when designing the site that it maintained a similar brand recognition to the title sponsor of the team, MetLife. Careful consideration was given to achieve this visual continuity through navigation, color palette and layout, while still maintaining a unique look that the team could call their own.

One of the most important aspects of the site is the News section. Given that the 10-man team travels to more than 50 events each season, it was essential for the site to have the ability to allow each rider to write race reports and add news items whenever they could – keeping the site up-to-date and a viable asset to the organization and its sponsors. This was achieved with the WordPress publishing platform.

WordPress allows for each author to login, update their profile, and write posts including photos, links and formatting all without any knowledge of html or other web languages.

A custom template was created for the WordPress installation to match the rest of the site, creating a seamless transition from one section to another. The result is a dynamic streamlined website with 12 different authors for an up-to-date view of the MetLife Cycling Team.
